Fair brings raft of new exhibitors, features and international participation from USA, UK, Japan and Malaysia…
Abu Dhabi, 06 September, 2016: NAJAH, the UAE’s leading Higher Education event, now in its 10th year, is dedicated to helping higher educational institutions connect with students and parents who are at a critical stage in the tough decision making process of choosing what to study.
Supported by the Abu Dhabi Education Council, NAJAH is held twice a year, once in Abu Dhabi and once in Al Ain. The event provides the perfect opportunity for a school student (Grade 10-12), to meet and discuss their future path with over a hundred prestigious local and international colleges and universities from as far reaching as USA, UK, Japan, Malaysia, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Hungary. Participating establishments include Middlesex University, Jumeirah University, Western Illinois University, Queens University Belfast and the University of Oxford.
The Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) are once again inviting a number of top Japanese universities to join them under their ‘Japan Pavilion’, and have been actively promoting ‘Study In Japan’ at NAJAH since 2013 to Emirati school leavers.
“Many Emirati students think they have to learn Japanese to study in Japan which is not the case as we have introduced a number of courses which are taught in English. The most popular courses for Emiratis include Space Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nuclear Engineering and Computer Science. We are bringing senior representatives from four of Japan’s top universities to NAJAH each with their own unique characteristics.” said Mr. Tokuya Kanamori, representative of the JICE Abu Dhabi Office.
As part of their education drive, JICE will be hosting a number of interactive activities at NAJAH this year, including a stage with traditional Japanese architecture, onsite staff wearing the Kimono, the traditional Japanese dress, and a showcase of samurai calligraphy.
“After the success of last year, we have decided to invite Emirati students who have studied, or are currently studying, in Japan to conduct a short presentation to the visitors who in turn can ask them directly about student life in Japan and the degree they are currently undertaking. We think hearing first-hand about what it is like to be a student in Japan will really offer an unprecedented insight in to whether or not it is the right fit for them.” added Kanamori.
Khurram Saeed, Exhibition Director for NAJAH Abu Dhabi, believes that the new direction will give both students and exhibitors alike a more targeted experience; “The move toward making NAJAH a show that purely supports the educational growth of the UAE youth, I believe, will drastically change the dynamic of the show for the better. The shift has been organically happening over the past few years, and has allowed us to create a number of brand new features which will all help our visitors better understand what educational path is best suited to them.”
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth & Development, NAJAH is supported by the Abu Dhabi Education Council and the UAE Ministry of Education. NAJAH 2016 expects to see up to 15,000 students and parents and help them connect with opportunities that can change their future.
