8 Things Recruiters are Sick of Hearing During an Interview

Most job seekers know the basics of a good job interview; dress the part, sit up straight, be confident, ask questions…etc. But have you thought of what not to say? Although there are many things that you should never say or ask during a job interview, most of us have said something that we’ve regretted later on. Here are 8 things recruiters are sick of hearing during an interview:
1. When you say ”Am Flunt in Engilish”
If you can’t seem to pronounce the word “fluent” right,  then you can always just opt for saying “good”.

2. When you recite everything written on the company’s website.
When a interviewer asks you what you know about the company, they usually want to hear your opinion and understanding of what the company does – not what’s already written in the “About Us” section.

3. When you come in with an attitude.
Recruiters hate it when you apply for a customer service job and say things like “I’m not answering phone calls” – lose the attitude!

4. When you play the victim when asked why you left your previous Job.
You don’t have to insult your old employer, even if you were kicked out or you left on bad terms. You can always say it in a nice way without acting like the whole world was fighting against you. Remember you’re being interviewed by someone from the HR department, and not by an old friend!

5. When you say nothing when they ask you about your hobbies.
Recruiter: “What do you usually do in your free time?”

Me: “I like to watch game of thrones”

Just No.

6. When you say things like you’re an Olympic swimmer, No.1 Archer, and you can’t even walk up the stairs.
I’m pretty sure the recruiter has already met the X-Factor finalist, Arab Idol-to-be, the world’s fastest runner and of course, YOU.

7. When you dress like you’re going to a pajama party.
This one pretty much explains itself. I’m not saying you should wear a Tom Ford O’Connor suit just don’t come in with your Tarneeb night flip flops.

8. When you answer all questions with a “Yes” and “No”.
The interviewer knows a lot about you from your CV and LinkedIn account. He/she wants to meet you to get to know you on a personal level, so you can’t answer questions like “Where do you see yourself in five years” with a “Yes” or “No”.
